J is for June – The Alphabet Imaginarium

J is for June, so warm and so filled with promise. The proclamation of summer, the beginning of fun. The shedding of clothes, the flashes of skin. The dribble of fresh fruit, the ice-cold beers and tangy cocktails. The relief of summer after so many months, the relief of holidays and restorative laziness.

I have to admit that here in Barcelona, our June is probably April or May, but there is a certain giddiness to June. This is the moment to drag out and dust down your summer wardrobe, see what fits and what needs to be discarded. It is a time for glorious dresses and warm evening breezes. June is the month that everyone is waiting for. A step closer to holidays. More time with friends, long days that seem to never end.

June is the month to set aside inhibitions. It is destined for summer flings and wild adventures. Afternoons spent in terrace bars, fixing the world, knowing there are no demands, obligations, and responsibilities. June brings a flinging open of windows, an airing out of dark corners. This is a time for popsicles and ice cream, for long reads in grassy parks, a time for splashing around at the beach.

A sense of freedom, refreshing flavours, heavy scents that waft in the wind. A content drunkenness that appears with the warmth. A recharging of batteries, of energy, of excitement. A necessary stop in the whirlwind of our lives, the perfect time to make plans for September.

With J is for June, we want to put the spotlight on the beginning of summer and all that it holds. This is a month that you can feel in your skin, in your bones, in your heart. June pulls at you, draws your attention, forces you to slow down. It makes your imagination wander, your dreams wander, your feet wander. June has that magical quality, making it almost impossible to stay inside.
