I have personally been a fan of Claire’s heavenly cooking for quite some time now, (she created not one but two cakes for my wedding that disappeared so fast I didn’t even get a chance to taste both!) It was a great honour to help Claire with the food styling for her Albion Food & Events web, previously brainstorming the themes and perusing her menus to better understand the type of props that would be necessary. I was in charge of sourcing the different items, and once Claire had plated each dish, I swooped in to add the necessary details and arrangements. Nacho Martínez was the photographer in charge of capturing each image and he did a great job.
We had so much fun that day, there is always the inherent ticking of the clock while working with natural light, a slight pressure that fizzles in the air. Claire was busy in the kitchen, prepping and preparing, while I organized details and Nacho snapped trial shots. The hours slowly trickled away, concentration and team-work was flowing until we realized that we were ravenous and had to stop for lunch. Since we hadn’t been using any tricks to make the food appear more enticing, we were able to dig in and have a hearty feast before continuing in the afternoon.
It was such a great day of food styling, filled with hard work, creativity, companionship, and great food. Claire’s passion for cooking and her immense talent made everything so easy. Nacho’s patience and insights were crucial and we ended the day with fantastic photos and doggie bags to take home!
